o When you first start playing, if you hear 2 notes, when you expect 1, select a menu item. This will send a "Local Off" command
to your synth(s) that are acting as input controllers. Local Off is a midi command that disables the actual notes played on the instruments from producing any sound, which is important because NoteWeaver intercepts the notes and sends different notes back than the ones played. o Notation staff type selections show Perc, meaning percussion, but it's currently not supported. o Text style table cells still can only be keyboard edited using associated numbers, and not letters. o Notation stems not optimized to not cross. o Many notation ties don't begin that well. Many other notation issues may crop up. o Quantize works at the timing level, but not at the notation drawing level, so it may not work as you desire. o In general the Notation system is not a full blown implementation, like can be purchased for much more money. If need be, you can generate Standard MIDI files, and import them into these other programs. o When importting Standard MIDI Files some META commands are ignored and Copyright Notices are handled differently. The commands that are ignored are: Sysex, Sequence Number, Text Events, and Lyrics. Copyright Notices are converted to gray Markers. o When importing standard midi files the main screen doesn't update until mouse is clicked somewhere in the screen or on a menu selection. o For some reason, very occasionally, when importting MIDI files a Note On doesn't accompany a Note Off MIDI event. Then while editing a Piano Roll track the Note On can be deleted by using setting the Piano Roll Length very short and using the mouse -Time selection by clicking the mouse just before the event. o 37 note keyboard outlines all begin at C, which is the most common location, instead of an F like some controllers. o There are only 4 possible input and output midi ports in use at any time. On the PC if you want to use the program MIDI Yoke from the MIDI OX people www.midiox.com you will not be able to use all 8 of it's possible ports. Also, when using a MIDI Yoke port for an output port be sure to avoid ever sending notes from the Output Dest screens to midi channels 1, 2, and 11 - 16 as this will set up a looping echo path. All MIDI from all MIDI input ports (like MIDI Yoke) flows into NoteWeaver and is used to determine the input channel and NoteWeaver doesn't discriminate specific ports. o When viewing the KG screen and selecting the top left Quick Reference selection, then returning to the KG screen the data doesn't scroll correctly using the < > buttons. The workaround is to click the KG menu item twice before scrolling. Paul S. |
