Note 1

The Trial version of the software will usually be downloaded from the web site.  Or it could be obtained from within the Mac or PC folders on the disk, if a disk was purchased.

In either case you can loosely follow the above instructions by double-clicking on the ...Trial versions of the Zip files, then continue to follow the instructions from there.

Note 2

vcredist_86.exe installs what are called "C Run-Time Libraries" using a quick Windows installation.   NoteWeaver requires that these libraries are in your system for it to operate.

They may or may not already be installed, but it won't hurt to install them again, and it only takes seconds, if you're unsure.  Otherwise you may try to run NoteWeaver and it won't work.

Vista machines don't require it, and other machines where program development has taken place probably also don't require the installation of vcredist_86.exe.

Additional Program Launching Instructions

It' important to have a working MIDI device connected and turned on before launching the program. If not you'll get a dialog box that will show up before the program is displayed that says: "No MIDI Input/Output Ports/Devices...".   If none are connected, just press Ok and the program will continue.

For the purchased version of the code a License Key dialog box will open shortly after starting the program.  Enter your emailed license key or the one printed on the disk, if you have one.

Also, for the purchased version of the code it's important to be using at least 1 data file and 1 song file.   So first thing, go into the File menu and create one of each by selecting the New Song and New Data Tables items.   It's important to have a working data file because various initialization variables are stored in it, and it's important to have a working song file since some initialization takes place upon creating one.
